Two Retirement in a Week, Cassano Made Verona President Confused
Antonio Cassano really made President Hellas Verona, Maurizio Setti, confused. How not, just within a week, this 35-year-old player made pension decisions twice.
On Monday, July 18, 2017, this former AS Roma star has given an indication of hanging shoes. In fact, eight days earlier he had decided to contract with Verona.
But in a press conference a few hours after the news he must have retired it appears, Cassano canceled his intention to hang up shoes. He claims to want to enjoy a new season with Verona.
“I suddenly feel lost and too emotional, but now I want to have a fantastic season,” Cassano said in a press conference at the time, as quoted by The Guardian.
But now, exactly on Monday (7/24/2017), Cassano again changed his mind. He again wants to leave Verona to retire.
Sky Sport Italia says that Cassano is experiencing high levels of stress after his family never moved to the city of Verona. Naturally, Verona’s side were confused by Cassano’s very unstable attitude.
“I was amazed at what I had learned about Cassano’s lack of motivation,” Setti said on the club’s official website.
Verona did not want to worry too much about what Cassano did. They are ready to go though without the former AC Milan and Real Madrid striker.
Despite the ongoing controversy, Cassano has a wealth of experience both outside and inside the country. Except Verona, the former Italian national team bastard has been noted to have defended nine clubs since 1999. Just two times he played abroad, namely when defending Real Madrid in 2006-2008.
